Bags

Bags have historically been used to contain small collections or to isolate and label individual items within a group. This section includes examples of bag use that help with collections maintenance. Historically, bags made from paper, fabric or food grade plastic have been used with varying success; more common is the use of zip lock polyethylene or polyester bags. Bags are also sometimes used to provide specific environmental conditions (for treatment or preservation), such as anoxia or hypoxia.
